To determine the most suitable size, you can use a measuring tape and take your own measurements by measuring a similar garment laid flat and taking the measurements directly on your body. Using both methods together ensures greater accuracy.
Measurement on flat garments
Upper parts
• Chest: Measured from armpit to armpit in a straight line. This measurement corresponds to half the chest. Multiplying it by two gives the total circumference, which can be compared with the measurement taken on the body.
• Waist: Measured horizontally at the waist area of the garment. This is equivalent to half the waist measurement. Multiplying by two gives the total circumference of the garment at that point.
• Shoulders: measured from one end of the shoulder to the other, along the back.
• Sleeve: measured from the point where the shoulder begins to the wrist.
• Length: measured from the highest part of the shoulder, near the neck, to the end of the garment.
Pants
• Waist: Measured from one end of the waistband of the pants to the other. This measurement corresponds to half the waist and, multiplied by two, gives the total circumference.
• Outer length: measured from the point where the waistband ends to the end of the leg, not including the waistband height.
• Inside length or crotch: measured from the inner seam of the crotch, at the point where the seams cross, to the end of the leg.
Measurement directly on the body
Upper parts
• Chest: measured by circling the chest at its widest point.
• Waist: Measured at the natural waist, the narrowest point of the torso, located a few centimeters above the navel and below the rib cage. The tape measure should encircle the torso horizontally and without being too tight.
• Shoulders: measured from one end to the other, along the back of the shoulders.
• Sleeve: measured from the end of the shoulder to the wrist with the arm relaxed.
• Length: measured from the front of the trapezoid, at the point where the neck and shoulder meet, to approximately halfway down the back of the pants or to the desired height.
Pants
• Waist: This is measured at the point where the pants are desired to sit. Generally, the measurement is taken at hip level, where the waistband of the pants rests. The resulting value represents the total circumference.
• Outer length: measured from the point where the waistband is to rest to the end of the pants.
• Inside length or crotch: measured from the area where the legs meet, following the inner line, to the ankle.
