For over 150 years Solbiati has woven natural fibres and made linen the signature of summer elegance.
Michele Solbiati founded the company in 1874 in Busto Arsizio, weaving velvets and fustians. In the 1960s, as the Italian textile industry went through a deep crisis, Vittorio Solbiati, the fourth generation, abandoned artificial fibres and staked everything on linen. That choice has defined the house’s name ever since.
Solbiati linen surprises those who imagine it stiff: it has a soft hand, deep colours and that ability to crease gracefully that gives a summer suit its character. Alongside pure linen, blends with wool, silk and cotton stretch the season beyond high summer. Today Solbiati is part of the Loro Piana Group.
